The weather was sunny with a light breeze as they set off energetically from Worthing Pier along the seafront. In their bright T- shirts and carrying buckets with Angie’s photo on, all 11 walkers attracted the attention of the public out and about enjoying the sunshine. It was a lovely day.
Right from the off, People were incredibly generous with on the spot donations, and many were interested to stop and find out more about what is happening with Angie and what Son-Rise therapy is all about. This was our experience along the whole route. Many people also wanted to ask about the upcoming fundraising concert on the 9th of June and expressed an interest or even promises to distribute more flyers on our behalf.
It was an amazing experience, very enjoyable and uplifting.
Finally, Babs would like to say a special thanks to all the helpers/walkers who just “got in there” smiling and talking to everyone the whole way, and to Buddy’s Café run by Mencap who donated their Beach Hut and gave us a pleasant Final Stop to rest our tired feet and enjoy some drinks and snacks.
We raised ￡130 from the bucket collection alone. We should have the final total of sponsorship money (currently estimated at ￡500+) by the end of May.
