Well, we have been back home for a bit more than a week and the excitement at seeing how Angie grew before our eyes while we were away has not wavered. All four of us have been suffering jet-lag and the resulting tiredness.
Well, we have been back home for a bit more than a week and the excitement at seeing how Angie grew before our eyes while we were away has not wavered. All four of us have been suffering jet-lag and the resulting tiredness. However the plans and promises we made to ourselves and each other before we left America are slowly getting underway. In this week of “coming down” from the experience we are very optimistic and positive and laying down new paths to help Angie continue her progress.
The biggest challenge we face is that we need to be in the Son-Rise room more often and for longer and for this we need extra helpers. We need to log progress in more detail in every session and keep up the relevant paperwork so we can see at a glance all her achievements, and plan goals.
Angie lapped up all the positive attention from her Son-Rise facilitators, and responded with a real desire to just PLAY with them, she was very consistent in her responses and by the end of the week was speaking much more! This has continued back home. They also confirmed our opinion that Angie understands everything we say, and she can read!
It is all a lot of work, and more than it was before because we will have to modify what we were doing and incorporate new things. However, rather than feeling overwhelmed, we really feel empowered. They talked a lot to us about how not to burn out. We are trying to build in time off for ourselves and each other, and to manage work and household commitments, let alone training new people! It all takes time sitting down together juggling it all round in our diaries, which we’re doing every day now!
Angie’s smile is the best incentive!
So Happy to be doing this.
Babs and Nigel.
