Things were a bit calmer this week. Phew. The back and front gates are now padlocked and we can allow dog and girl free access to the back garden again. They do seem to be getting on very well.

Cleo still has star-status as far as I am concerned for staying with Angie when she wandered off last week. She is also a great help when out walking with Angie who has a tendency to lag behind and keep stopping, which for some reason is the thing that stretches my patience the most. Well I have been trying to teach Angie to keep up for about 7 years now! If I slow down for her, she slows down as well. Grrr.
Anyway,I digress.
Tuesday and Wednesday were a little hard going this week when Nigel and I were on our own. Going in the play room with Angie requires motivation to be enthusiastic and energised and excited – the famous 3 E’s that son rise training advocates and empowers you to find. However, there are days when even between us we struggles to muster it. Since losing mum, I can have days occasionally when I feel incredibly low. On those days I can’t seem to make it work even when Nigel and me take turns. Equally there are days when Nigel gets overwhelmed with day to day jobs that have built up he just has to focus on them.
We could do with a housekeeper and secretary as well some days!
It was interesting and worrying that on the day Babs wasn’t able to do a session, but allowed Angie free play instead, that Ana’s session that afternoon was quite difficult with Angie not able to focus well.
However, as the week wore on things got better. Liam and Imke both had good sessions, and this was highly motivating for Angie but also Babs and Nigel who also had good sessions. It all culminated in a very positive meeting on Thursday where we all shared Angie’s triumphs and upon checking the data on the spreadsheet could see that Angie’s speech had doubled over the last fortnight, compared to the previous fortnight.
So, we do our best, every day, whatever that is. sometimes it’s hard not to feel guilty, but I just try and focus on the fact that Just like Angie, I’m doing the best I can, and chuck the guilt away.
