It’s been another busy week at the Ratcliffes with a few dramas! Babs has been at work all week, being a children’s home school hols are our busiest time! Liam Imke Ana Nigel and Babs have Kept the programme going clocking up a healthy 25 hours which is such an improvement on previous school holidays when our helpers would have to take time off, Babs would still have to work some days and Nigel and her would have to run the programme snatching an hour here or there. we learned in America, that its consecutive hours that make the real difference! So it’s really exciting to see this continuos input since we’ve had our new helpers. as I’m writing this,Liam is working upstairs with Angie, and he’s singing the Barbie song to Angie who is watching him intently !

Major drama last night, Angie is getting so clever she ‘s worked out how to get out the back gate and last night went missing. after us running round the neighbourhood talking to people and checking her most likely places (shop, park )the police found her having a bath in a pond in one of the neighbours gardens!
Aaaaah.
the police dog handler found her after she’d been missing about half an hour and it transpired that our dog,Cleo had stayed with Angie, and apparently “looked after her”
I was still out looking, and on hearing that Angie was safely home, promptly had the worst asthma attack brought on by panic ( relief?) that I have ever had, and had to be collected and brought home by the police. Very frightening.Thankfully it was all over when my inhaler was found.
What was going round and round my head was that I know that Angie “understands”how to operate a crossing, knows that roads are dangerous -technically, but I have no guarantee how she will behave. She may well wander into the road if she’s thinking of something else. she would also trust anyone to go off with them. I m just so grateful that the pond wasn’t deep because that wouldn’t have deterred her either.
The kindness of strangers again, was very touching, the staff of Tesco express, several people out and about on their bikes all volunteered to look for her- if you get to read this, thank you!
