April finds the Ratcliffe family fast approaching 30 Son rise hours a week having recently secured help at the weekend. Angie is really enjoying herself. the journey to this over the last couple of months has been beset with difficulties that we have had to take time to find ways through.
April finds the Ratcliffe family fast approaching 30 Son rise hours a week having recently secured help at the weekend. Angie is really enjoying herself. the journey to this over the last couple of months has been beset with difficulties that we have had to take time to find ways through. sadly at the beginning of February Angie lost her Nanny Joy after a long illness, as a family we took care of each other, and the emotional maturity that Angie showed was deeply moving. She was able to sit quietly at Nanny bedside while she was still with us, and later Angie attended the funeral. her helpers reported that Angie was tearful in their sessions in the days after, and Angie did say to me after the funeral that she was sad, which she said very clearly. the sad loss of my mum was offset by the joy of hearing my little girl at last be able to express her feelings. we will truly miss my mum’s care.
Later on in February we had to say farewell to our lovely Louise who had come to America with us, health issues meant she just couldn’t carry on, so we were sad to see her go, but wanted her most of all to be well. Then in March we lost our newest helper Laila who was just too busy with her job. oh dear, she really believed in Angie and was so upset.We will miss you both but will keep in touch.
all was not lost, all this happened as the same time as my Ad for new helpers went out to the local 6th form college, which was answered quite quickly by two brilliant young people who fulfilled all the requirements we were looking for. so, Imke and Liam have come to join ana,Nigel and myself.
training got underway with Babs planning and teaching using the SonRise guidelines much more meticulously this time as time allowing from Babs working flexibly had also slotted into a pattern, making it easier. the addition of Liam helped us begin to use technology more easily as well and we are now keeping clearer records of Angie’s progress. we are also learning so much from Liam and Imke.
I am so grateful to have found these two young people, who have embraced learning about son rise without judgement and who have the belief to try the techniques with Angie and are already reporting to see changes in her. They are an inspiration to us and to her. they also show the level of commitment that we need to run the program. more on this!
I am now recruiting again, also looking at volunteers, as we still have days when Nigel and I are running the program by ourselves, which with all the recording is pretty exhausting! Nigel has suffered with his health on and off this year so we are conscious of keeping on top of that too.
